BEHIND THE SCENES: The Process of Building the 'Cerebrum: Tire Stickers' Experience

Most people only get to see the end result of a project, that final ‘wow’ moment where it all comes together into this big cohesive piece. What isn’t often considered is what it takes to build up to that point and how much work it takes! Below we share a little bit of our process of the beginnings of this project with Cerebrum. In the end, we produced a fully immersive experience integrating both 2D motion graphics and 3D created assets. Be sure to check out our Showcase to see how it all came together!

After the initial concept sketches are done, it’s on to the look and feel! We provided our client a series of mood boards to get their seal of approval on the style of what their content will look like. In this case, they were looking for a ‘Tron-esque’ futuristic style. In the end, they decided to combine that with simple, clean motion graphics.

It’s time to flesh out the storyboards! We have a good idea of the flow from our rough sketches and now we know what the look and feel is going to be, so we take that into consideration when wire-framing out the boards. This is a breakdown of information. Animation notations are made to motion graphics designer to cue in what transitions will happen in-between each stage.

Next, 3D assets were created for later compositing into the motion graphic. The Cerebrum tire sensor model was initially provided by the client, but then further stylized by our team to fit the project.

Car, Tire Sensor, and Wheel and Sensor all stylized 3D assets ready for compositing.

After putting all the pieces together, we rendered a beautiful presentation piece for our client! The top portion was used on LED wall and the bottom portion was used for an LED floor with actual tires on it! These two together provided a full immersive experience informing the consumer all about the world of Cerebrum. Check out the video below for a preview walkthrough of the presentation!
